The Lord Jesus said, “What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36) At Curri Contracting, Inc, we are more concerned about your eternal destiny than anything else. We do believe in eternal reward, whether it be with God or in the unquenchable flames of hell. And without apology, we beg you to consider the claims of the Bible and Christ to be more than just some fanciful religious ideas, but the truth! Please read this plea of repentance and faith from president, Chris Curri.
If you have never repented and believed the gospel, I warn you. There is a judgment coming, but there is also salvation from the wrath of God! It should not take a whole lot of convincing you of the horrible position you are in before God. You have broken every righteous command of God, and yet the apostle James tells us, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10) I will accuse you again, that you have offended not in just one point, but in all the righteous commands of God. In protest you say, “I am a good person!” To the standard of man that is probably true. You are most likely not going around robbing banks, selling drugs, or plotting murders. You are probably someone for whom I would enjoy working and with whom I would enjoy dinner and friendship. You are perhaps even a great mother or father and spouse. But let me ask you, has anything ever been more important to you than God? Have you ever used the name of God as a fowl word? Have you always honored your father and mother? Have you ever hated anyone? Have you ever lusted in your heart for anyone? Have you ever entertained fantasies for your neighbor’s spouse? Have you ever stolen anything, no matter how small? If you have answered, “No,” to any of these questions, you are most likely telling another lie! You see, If I could play a DVD of all your thoughts in front on an audience of strangers, you would go running in shame. Now imagine your shame if this DVD were played in front of your friends. This shame you would experience in front of other people who are just as wicked. Now the reality of a omniscient God who needs no DVD, but has seen your every thought. He has heard every word you have spoken. He has seen you yell at your children and curse your father and mother. He has seen your thoughts when your were cut off in traffic. In your sins you are in a horrible position before God. You are in big trouble before this righteous judge! You are guilty. The Judge’s sentence upon you is hell for all eternity. And just as the gavel is about to fall God commands you to repent and believe the gospel.
Repentance requires a turning from the darkness of your evil deeds to the light of Christ. Jesus said, “Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.” Turn from your evil doings! Do not continue to hate the light, but come to the light of Christ. Your deeds will be exposed to all one day. Repent now! Jesus continues, ” But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light.” Man I beg you, I plead with you come to the Light! Live by the truth. Don’t hide from the truth. Let your shame be exposed now before the one who bled and died for your sins. Agree with God in your guilt before Him.
The gospel is a New Testament word which literally translated means good news. The good news is plainly defined by the apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthians. “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.” This good news is foretold in the Old Testament, was witnessed by the disciples in their lifetime, and then the risen Lord was seen of not only the 12, but of over 500 witnesses.
These historical events are to be believed through faith. Do you believe that George Washington was America’s first president? Of course you do, and you do through faith. You trust the writings of the people who were there at the time. There’s little difference with Jesus. You either trust in the witnesses of the apostles and disciples or you don’t. Just as someone would think you absurd for not believing in George Washington as America’s first president, so I would think you absurd for not believing in the historical risen Christ. Believe that it is so and you will be saved. If you have any comment or questions on this writing please feel free to call or email.
